Moonstruck Mackerel

Moonstruck Mackerel is a retro style 2D platformer with both horizontal and vertical scrolling. Play as an amphibious walking mackerel, and rid the kingdom of the invading robots! Explore underwater rooms, gardens, castles, and cloud caves. Fight your way from the ground to the sky, and reach the moon at the end of each level! Destroy the robot factory and save the kingdom!

Gameplay

You can shoot water bullets on land, after being in the water (maximum 3). You can shoot air bullets in the water, after being on land (maximum 3). You can have a maximum of 3 health points. If you collect 10 gems or 1 large gem, you will recover a lost health point. Each time you touch an active robot or a robot on fire, you will lose a health point. On land, if you run out of water bullets (or wish to save them), and you have enough health points, you can intentionally sacrifice a health point by bouncing over a robot and hoping to find gems afterwards. When you lose all your health points, you will automatically teleport back to the start of the level, but you won't lose your progress in that level. You have an infinite number of lives, but your total number of attempts is incremented each time you restart a level. You can also manually teleport back to the beginning of the level at any time, and not lose your progress in that level. This still counts towards your total attempts, but it's fun to escape from the robots just before they trap you! The land robots and flying robots are defeated by becoming wet, so they will generally try to avoid water. The underwater robots are defeated by air, and cannot leave the water. Use that information to defeat them!
